When should you replace your skates?

If your mouse catches, scratches or no longer glides the same way across the whole mousepad, your skates are probably worn out. Check their edges too: a damaged edge can mark your mousepad. Polling rate is the number of times per second your mouse reports its position to your PC. While most wireless mice run at 1000 Hz, a 4K or 8K dongle lets you go up to 4000 or 8000 Hz, for smoother on-screen movement and lower latency.

One important point: a dongle isn't universal. It's designed for one brand, and often for a specific list of models, so always check compatibility with your mouse. 🔌 Paracord and bungees: for wired mice

If you play with a wired mouse, the cable can quickly get in the way: it rubs against your desk, creates drag and slows your movements. Paracord is a light, very flexible braided cable that replaces the stock one so you can forget it's there. Installing it means opening your mouse, so it's a mod best left to those who are comfortable with that kind of work.
