Moondrop CHU 3 - Black

Moondrop tunes the CHU 3 on a B&K 5128 measurement head toward its PopAvg-DF (JM-1) target, built from how sound actually reaches the ear. The result is a natural, smooth timbre, extended treble and dimensional imaging, so you can tell where footsteps and gunfire come from instead of just hearing them. Nonlinear distortion stays below 0.05% across the range, which keeps detail clean when the action gets busy, from ranked matches to music and movies.

At the heart of each earpiece, a 10 mm driver uses an aluminum-magnesium alloy diaphragm, a material mostly found in high-end IEMs and headphones. Being stiffer and lighter, it delivers clearer treble and brings out the small details, while the bass gains extra punch. A powerful magnet makes the sound more responsive, and a brass nozzle at the front of the earpiece helps keep the treble smooth rather than harsh.

The CHU 3 keeps the series’ compact bean-shaped design, with curves that follow the concha of your ear so it stays comfortable through long sessions. The zinc alloy shell is cast for rigidity and protected against corrosion by a durable paint layer. The 0.78 mm 2-pin cable is detachable, with pre-formed ear hooks and an angled Jack 3.5mm plug, and you can swap it for an upgrade cable or a Bluetooth neckband or ear-hook adapter.

The Chu series opened Moondrop’s Four Noble Ones line and built its name on sound quality and value at the entry level. With the CHU 3, Moondrop refines the design, upgrades the driver and fine-tunes everything with high-performance measurement gear, earning both a Gold Award and a Special Prize at the VGP 2026 Summer awards. That makes it an easy way into wired IEMs for players who want clean, detailed sound without stretching their budget.
